The Lead Developer will lead and architect the development and technical aspects for software development projects. The role will take shared responsibility for component architecture, advise on and oversee the output of other developers on the team. The candidate will work with the requirements provided by the Head of Development and other project owners, and with the resources and time as laid out by the Project Manager.
Projects will vary from complete site builds to new functionality on existing sites, both for public consumption and for internal use. Small amounts of client application work will also be necessary. Projects will be run concurrently involving different members of the team, and the ability to effectively collaborate with other Lead Developers and Developers is key.
Web project workflows will involve receiving and assessing specifications, wireframes and visual designs, and ensuring that different members of the team produce the following parts of the project:
· Front-end code (HTML/CSS/Javascript)
· CMS Tools (working with an established .Net CMS to configure content and configuration schema)
· View/Business logic, using .Net
Responsibility will fall on the Lead Developer for ensuring interoperability of all components in a project, including their stability and reliability, and their ease of use and extension by other developers in the team. As such, an expert grasp on current and upcoming technologies and best practices is necessary, as is the ability to effectively educate other team members on the benefit and execution of new techniques.
Candidates will have an expert overview of the .Net Framework, be fluent in C# and have a keen interest in new patterns and practices.
WIRED EDITORIAL
iPad Production Manager

Wired is looking for a experienced production manager to work on a three-month project researching and producing an app for the iPad. The successful applicant will have significant experience as a magazine production editor, a deep understanding of InDesign, good organisational and administrative skills and the ability to embrace new and fast-changing technology.
You will be working with Wired’s existing editiorial team and two dedicated iPad designers, recasting the magazine for the iPad and co-ordinating the commissioning and production of multimedia elements, such as video, audio and animation.

Reporting directly to the Promotions Director, the successful candidate will have hands-on involvement throughout the creative process from idea generation, to visualisation, to art direction and finally to page design. He/She should be capable of walking a client through the creative proposal and when necessary, help sell in the creative idea.
